Tristan McCoy: Varsity Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator, Linebackers Coach


Coach McCoy graduated from Rancho Bernardo High School in 1996, where he was a member of the 1993 and 1995 CIF championship teams, and earned All-League and All-CIF honors. He attended St. Mary’s College, where he played football for the Gaels.

After earning his Master’s Degree at Columbia University, he taught history and coached football and baseball at Mira Costa High School, until he was able to return to his alma mater in 2007. Since he has been back at RBHS, he has been teaching history and has coached freshman baseball, and football on all three levels.  In 2011 he replaced his former coach, Brad Elrod, as Head Coach of the Broncos.

Tristan lives in Rancho Bernardo with his wife, Alisha, and his two sons, Mason and Madden.

Adrian Flores: Running Backs Coach, Video Coordinator

The other guy (1)In 2014, Coach Adrian Flores moved back home to San Diego from Springfield, VA after a 22 year career in the US Army. While in the Army, he served two tours in Iraq and retired at the rank of Master Sergeant. A highlight of his Army career is that he is a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal for his contributions in the invasion of Iraq with the First Marine Division.  Coach Flores works and lives in Rancho Bernardo with his wife and son.

Myles Stuckey: JV Head Coach, JV Defensive Coordinator, Defensive Line Coach

stuckeyCoach Stuckey graduated from Rancho Buena Vista High School in Vista in 1995. He played at Humboldt State University, and teaches Social Science at Grace Lutheran. Myles currently lives in Escondido with his wife and  daughter and son.

Jeff Carpenter: Quality Control, Assistant Defensive Line Coach

Coach Jeff CarpenterCoach Carpenter graduated from South Torrance High School in Los Angeles, and played college football and lacrosse at the University of San Diego.

Coach Carp has been teaching and coaching football at RB since 1993. He currently teaches AP Government and also coaches the girls lacrosse team.   He lives in Rancho Bernardo with his wife, and has a son and daughter.

Bryan Grundon: Offensive Coordinator, QB Coach

grundonCoach Grundon graduated from RBHS in 1998, and played the center position at Humboldt State University. Bryan earned his law degree from USD and currently runs his own law firm.  He lives in Rancho Bernardo with his wife and two daughters.

Paul Schneider: Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Backs

schneiderCoach Schneider played defensive back at University of Wisconsin, graduating in 1993 with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Economics and graduated from Duke University in 2002 with a J.D.  Coach Schneider currently lives in Rancho Bernardo with his wife and their four children.

Adam Gajo: Wide Receivers Coach

Coach Gajo graduated from Mira Mesa High School in 2002 and played receiver at UNLV.  He works as a sports business analyst, and resides in Rancho Penasquitos with his wife and two kids.

John Mays: Defensive Backs Coach

Coach Mays graduated from Scripps Ranch High School in 2001 and has pursued a career as a Sales Associate for a local Engineering Company. He has been married to his wife Nichole for 8 years.   They live in RB with their 4 year old son and 1 year old daughter.  John was coaching at Scripps Ranch High school the past 5 years before joining the Rancho Bernardo staff.

Greg Nolte: Tight Ends Coach

Coach Nolte came to RB from Minnesota this past Spring.  He brings nearly 20 years of experience as a coach and administrator for youth and high school football.  He lives now locally with his wife and two sons.

Paul Payne: Offensive Line Coach

Coach Payne joined the staff last year after taking a hiatus from coaching.  Previously he was a long-time coach at Mira Mesa High School.  He teaches Middle School PE, and lives in Escondido with his wife and two kids.


Joe Terribilini: Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator, Linebackers.  Coach Terribilini is a teacher at Rancho Bernardo HS, and has served as the Head Wrestling Coach for the last several years.  Prior to becoming an educator, he was in the Army and worked as a personal trainer.

Brad Elrod: Offensive Coordinator, QB Coach.  Coach Elrod has been coaching at RBHS since 1991, in various roles from Varsity Head Coach to Offensive and Defensive Coordinator.  He retired 4 years ago after 30+ years of teaching, and lives in RB with his wife, and has a daughter and son.

John Valles: Special Teams Coordinator, Defensive backs.  Coach Valles taught for over 30 years in PUSD, and recently retired as a Match teacher.  He has coached several other sports along the way.  He lives in RB with his wife.

Gary Jolk: Linebackers.  Coach Jolk recently retired from Mount Carmel HS, after teaching for 30 years.  He has coached at numerous schools and levels of football during his career.  He lives in Carmel Mountain with his wife, and has two daughters.

Dexter Martin: Defensive Line.  Coach Martin recently retired from the USMC, and has jumped into coaching this year, joining not only the Football team but Track program as well.  He lives in RB with his wife and two sons.

Marc Lazernik: Running Backs.  Coach Lazernik has taught and coached at RB for nearly two decades.  He teaches and also coaches track.  He lives in RB with his wife, and has a daughter.

Dave Herrick: Offensive Line.  Coach Herrick graduated from Mt. Carmel and played football at Colorado University.  He currently teaches at Bernardo Heights Middle School.  He lives with his wife and three kids in San Elijo.

Chris Decremer: Wide Receivers.   Coach Decremer coaches Social Studies at Bernardo Heights Middle School.  He has two sons and lives in Poway.

Jim Parker: Offensive Line.  Coach Parker has coached at many high schools in his career–Mater Dei, University, Lincoln, Templeton, and this is his second stint at Rancho Bernardo.  He lives in Rancho Bernardo with his wife, and has several grandchildren in San Diego.
